Wellspring in nature! patagonia challenge

patagonia, Inc. is an American clothing company founded in 1973 that sells and showcases mainly sustainable outdoor clothing.

There was a event called 'patagonia challenge' which was held by patagonia for two nights and three days from the 1st of April.

This outdoor program was held in Odaesan (Mount. Odae) which is a south Korean mountain peak in Gangwon, South Korea standing at the junction of the districts of Gangneung, Pyeongchang and Hongcheon.

Over a hundred people who love outdoor sports gathered together and enjoyed a variety of activities such as trail running, MTB, tree climbing, big swing, zip line, etc.

Wellspring as a must-have item for backpackers, participated this event together :)
Can you see Wellspring hanging on the tree?

It would be great if we can drink water from the valley however, bacteria or microorganism might cause disease, Wellspring helped them to drink clean and safe water.

Portable water filter "Wellspring"

Like this, they could have drinking water from the Wellspring !

How about bring Wellspring when you go hiking or backpacking? :)

Wellspring in Tanzania!

Happy autumn to you :)

Below pictures are we had received from a missionary who is currently working in Tanzania.
As you can see, level of turbidity is very high.

Surprisingly this water was taken right after filling the bucket with water out of faucet.
They use this water only for the toilet.
We could assume how hard to have clean water at the site.

This is relatively clean water, they use this water while taking a shower or brush their teeth, than the above picture however we can see clay.

*Filtered water from the water bag

For drinking water, they started to use Wellspring.

Since the water quality is not good, they told us that they backwash it everyday.

 *Filtered water from the bucket

We hope everyone can drink safe water.

A visit to Myanmar_the fourth story

“Mingalar par!”

“Mingalar par” means hello in Myanmar.
Nowadays the weather is getting warmer J

Today I am going to tell you the fourth story of Myanmar.

Especially I am going to tell you about “CC Garden” where around 80 teenagers live and study.

We donated and installed “Wellspring-Megaflux M” to CC Garden.

Water purifier Wellspring Megaflux-M

There will be supplement or amend to existing “Wellspirng-Megaflux M”, but,

Wellspring_Megaflux M is expanded version of Wellspring which can be used in a fixed

position.

“Wellspring-Megaflux M” is designed to be easily assembled and disassembled.

With no special knowledge, disintegrated fame can be installed without difficulty at site.

It was the first time for the people in the picture to install “Wellspring-Megaflux M”, but they could also easily assemble.

The student at the center gathered to watch the installation. J

Frame can be connected only by hand.

One student scoop water out of a well. The water contained a lot of green particles.

Student at the center were looking at us curiously. We put the water into the “Wellspring-Megaflux M”

TADA~

Clean water is coming out of the system!

Can you see the difference between murky water in the bottle and the water from “Wellspring-Megaflux M”?

We demonstrated the back washing which is the most important thing!

Put clean water by using syringe. Please do not let air in while back washing J

They were surprised to hear that it can be used long time with back washing.

He is very pleased to see the filtered water.

Have a sip!

Their faces showing us that they cannot believe J

They looked shocked and hesitated to try.

But,

After they tasted the filtered water, they stared at us with wide eyes and said “it tastes just like water!”

We cannot make water to wine but we can make inedible water to drinkable.

Clean water that we take for granted, water purifiers which are so common in Korea
can be a valuable thing J

We will keep trying to supply clean water to the world!

We wish their healthy growth with fresh water J

A visit to Myanmar_the third story

Today I am going to tell you our visitation in Tayagong center.
Tayagong center runs a church-affiliated kindergarten and a nursing home.
And we could find a community hospital which was built by Saerim hospital of Korea.

Every children at the kindergarten was very bright and cheerful.

We gave aesthetic services to children and it was a great success! J

Now, we are installing the water purifier!

First, make a hole with a drill bit!

They were surprise to see the concise procedure.

Here also store underground water in a tank of cement to use. Since the tank has no cover, water has a lot of floating particles and algal blooms.

Put the water in to the water tank of Wellspring.

The net we brought from Korea. The fabric is like a mosquito net.

Wait till the filter is filled with the water from the silicon hose. It would be better if the water was drained before, in order for a hose not to be filled with air.

Only seconds later, clean water came out from Wellspring!
We had a deluge of inquiries and the most frequently asked question was “can we really drink this water?”
Because most of them see a water purifier for the first time.
They think they should pay for drinking water.
The below picture is what we had at the Tayagong center. The food was to our appetite!
Thanks for preparing this amazing meal!

Lastly, hope you have a great day like the beautiful smile of the children!

A visit to Myanmar_the second story

Myanmar is also known as Burma. Its capital city is Naypyidaw and its largest city is Yangon.

The first place we visited was Galunggong church where more than 50 people including 20 children pray.

They also buy water for drinking either, and use underground water in a dry season.

First we made a hole into a bucket by using a drill bit.

It is not difficult to make a hole into a bucket with fingers but, we had to be careful since the bucket was thin.

Installation is done only by connecting the silicon hose after attaching the bucket adapter.

To remove big foreign substances, we prepared pre-filter.
When you are hard to find the pre-filter, you can use cotton clothing.

We explained how to exchange filter and back wash method.

We were grateful to the people at the church for their intent listening.

The time in installation is only 10 minutes!
And it took 20 minutes for explanation!
We could install a water purifier which will provide a safe water for 2 years in only 30 minutes.
We heard one of the ladies at the church is in poor health. We hope her recover her health with clean water.

A visit to Myanmar_the first story

I can have a feeling that spring is coming!

Some of our staff members went to Myanmar for a week with Yaksu-dong Seong-gyeol church.

Yaksu-dong Seong-gyeol church supplied Wellspring to overseas mission field as a commemoration business of their sixtieth founding anniversary in 2015.

Not only supplies of Wellspring, pastor and other church members of Yaksu-dong Seong-gyeol church visited mission field in Myanmar to demonstrate installation of Wellspring.

We are very glad we could have a chance to do with them.

The places we visited were seven local churches and one center for mission in center and suburbs of Yangon which is the capital of Myanmar.

Now, Myanmar is in a dry season.

In rainy season, save for well-maintained roads in downtown, all the roads turn into mire.

Below is a picture of a well which contains water for living. General houses in the areas away from cities, draw water from a well.

As you can see they pump up underground water and put the water into an open water tank which was built with cement.

The water is dirty enough to see with the naked eye.

The water is pumped at a depth of about 10m~40m.

Considering drinking water should be pumped at least 100m depth, 10m~40m is too low to pump water to have drinking water.

Larva of mosquitos and foreign substances were visible to the naked eye.

Of course, people do not drink this water straight, they use the water for laundry, cleaning, dish-washing and when they washing their face.

Then how they do with drinking water?

They buy water like below picture to drink.

Water varies vastly in price and taste.
But those water seem to be only drinking water in Myanmar considering that there are no water purifiers in the area.
Please visit again, as we will keep posting about installation of Wellspring in Myanmar!
Cheers!
