We have been asked this question many
times.
But unfortunately, Wellspring cannot filter
every types of water into drinking water.
Seawater is the representative case.
Seawater cannot be filtered by the membrane which is applied to Wellspring.
As
you know, seawater cannot be used for drinking water due to salt. Salt exists
in ion form in water. The size of ion is way smaller than the size of pore on
membrane.
The membrane which is applied to Wellspring
has pore size of 0.1㎛ thus it can filter viruses and
particles but cannot filter ion which is smaller than 0.1㎛.
If you would like to produce drinking water
from seawater, you need to use reverse osmosis membrane which requires more
energy and extra-cost. (Next posting will be principles of filtration by
membrane)
For such reason mentioned above Wellspring
cannot filter sugar in juice. This is unexpected but many of our customers have
tried to filter coffee or juice by Wellspring and have been confused.
So what types of water can be produced into
drinking water?
You can produce drinking water with surface
water such as rain water, underground water (if it contains heavy metal or
arsenic Wellspring needs additional filter), pond water, river water and etc.
Both clay water which looks dirty and water
which looks clean but contaminated with microorganism or viruses can be
filtered.
Wellspring can remove particular matter
like clay, microorganism, viruses, rust and parasite in surface water. Also we
applied activated carbon to Wellspring thus filtered water does not have odor
and tastes good.
